David E. Gordy, 1946-2021

Memorial services for David E. Gordy, 74, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021 at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, with Pastor Brad Root officiating. Mr. Gordy passed away on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021 in Quitman.

David was born on Aug. 5, 1946 in Dallas to Chester Earl and Annie Pearl Gordy. He worked for many years as a welder and was affiliated with the Church of Christ in Gilmer. David enjoyed spending time around the lake. He liked fishing, hunting, cooking and being outdoors with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita Melton Gordy; and siblings, Martha, Lawrence, Doug, John, William, Daisy, Anna, Louise and Linda.

David is survived by daughters, Michelle Gandy and husband Matthew, Mandy Worsham and husband Mark, and Sandy Tillery; sisters, Nedra Gordy and Mary Smith; grandchildren, Kenna, Kara, Kylie, Alyssa, Alexander, Joe, Mason, Molly, David and Daniel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
