Tully Davidson was unanimously reappointed Wood County fire marshal at last Tuesday’s county commissioners meeting. Davidson is also the county emergency management director and supervises the new environmental officer. His term as fire marshal will run through Jan. 13, 2022. Commissioners approved a bond for Davidson.

Davidson reappointed as county fire marshal

Tully Davidson was unanimously reappointed Wood County fire marshal at last Tuesday’s county commissioners meeting. Davidson is also the county emergency management director and supervises the new environmental officer. His term as fire marshal will run through Jan. 13, 2022. Commissioners approved a bond for Davidson.

In another matter commissioners approved spending $58,000 for the purchase of property within the city limits of Quitman for the lots and building next to the sub-courthouse, housing elections and information technology departments. 

Commissioners acknowledged an award of $50,000 to Wood County as part of Sabine River Authority’s Community Assistance Program. This program is part of an economic development initiative to positively impact local and regional economies within the Sabine Basin. The money is a collaborative effort with Wood County, Wood County Economic Development Commission and the Quitman Development Corporation in efforts to host the Bassmaster Elite Series Tournament on Lake Fork Reservoir benefiting Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The lease agreement fo the lake house on Lake Quitman for $650 per month to Una Garland King was approved. The property is located 1383 CR 1416.

Personnel actions included Wesley Patrick hired as a road tech for Precinct 1 at $20.87 per hour and Patrick Daley as assistant district attorney for an annual salary of $60,569. There were four moves in the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. Joshua Davis will transfer from patrol sergeant to patrol lieutenant at a rate of $24.05 per hour replacing Melissa Pollard who has been transferred to CID (Criminal Investigation Department) at $24.05 per hour; and Tamatha Parish was hired as jailer at $20.14 per hour. The resignation of CID Lieutenant Fred Ellis, Jr. was accepted.

The revision of lots 136-139, section VII at Holly Lake Ranch subdivision into one large lot was approved.

Also approved was the payroll at $403,916; accounts payable $784,820; and health and dental $39,978.
