Dean’s 20 not enough as Lady Js lose to Gilmer

Last Tuesday the Mineola Lady Jackets were coming off a tough road loss to their Highway 69 neighbor – the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers.

Mineola was hoping that the new week would bring some new mojo, however the Lady Jackets lost 70-62 against the Gilmer Buckeyes .

Sabria Dean has been a bright spot for the Lady Jackets as she again finished with 20 points and six rebounds.

Dean had scored at least 20 points in five consecutive (non-tournament) games dating back to Dec. 5 against Arp High School. Her highest scoring output came last Friday against Alba-Golden when the sophomore point guard scored 39 points – a season high.

Sharp shooter Cyndi Butler had a good game as she also broke in to double digits as she scored 12 points, matching her season high. Jessiah Riley, Vanessa Spurgeon and Tiara Stephens each had eight points as well.
