Lady Hawks out clawed by Big Sandy


The Hawkins Lady Hawks volleyball team was unable to overcome the Big Sandy Lady Wildcats’ offensive attack as the Lady Hawks lost in four sets last Tuesday.

With scores of 14-25, 18-25, 25-23, and 21-25 in district play Tuesday night the Lady Hawks got off to a slow start in the match losing two straight sets before battling back to win the third. However the Lady Wildcats proved to be too much for the Lady Hawks on Tuesday night as they finished the match in four sets.

Hawkins was led by Emily Hodges with 14 kills and Jaycee Cheshire added seven kills .

Lilly Long and Raeli Smith combined for 23 assists, 13 and 10 respectively.

Cheshire had six blocks and Christian Harris added five blocks for Hawkins.

Defensively, Alyssa Eddington picked up 17 digs.  Raeli Smith and Hodges picked up nine digs each.

The JV Lady Hawks fell to Big Sandy, 21-25, 25-23, and 24-26.
