Dewene Thompson 1936-2021

Dewene (Dee) Thompson, 85, of Kemp passed away on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021. She was born Ollie Dewene Pennington on March 24, 1936 to Raymond Benjamin (Jack) Pennington and Lois White Pennington. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening and playing cards. She was a member of Hainesville Baptist Church and faithfully attended until she no longer could.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luther James Thompson Jr.; and cousin, Kenneth Slayton.

Dewene is survived by her children, Clifford Stanley (Cliff) Rupe of Mineola, John Raymond Rupe and wife Lisa of Hawkins, Jerri Yvonne Seabourn and husband Wayne of Scurry, Luther James Thompson III (Little Luke) of Kaufman and Connie Elaine Thomas and husband Alan of Kemp; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brothers, Charles Pennington of Phenix City, Ala., Jerry Pennington and wife Angie of Mesquite, Donald Pennington and wife Becky of Phenix City, Ala., Jackie Pennington of Mineola and Lynn Pennington with wife Sarah of Mineola; sisters, Ann Cooper and husband Billy of Edgewood, Elaine Gillis and husband Dick of Mineola, Brenda Coley and husband Art of Temple and Yvonne Ross of Ashland City, Tenn.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Keystone Church in Mesquite.
