Dixie Lorance Perkins, 1940-2020

Dixie Lorance Perkins, 79, of Mineola, passed away on Jan. 17, 2020 in a local hospital. Dixie was born on Aug. 3, 1940 in Muleshoe to James Andrew Lorance and Hazle Marie (Templar) Lorance. Mrs. Perkins had lived in Mineola since 1965 and had been a supervisor for 30 years at Buddy Schoellkopf Products. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Johnny Ray Perkins; daughters, Patricia Banks and husband Johnny, and Karen Blair; sons, Teddy Blair and wife Kim, Charlie Gill and Wayne Perkins; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. The family received friends for a time of visitation on Monday, Jan. 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. The funeral was held on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Beaty Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Morrow officiating. Burial followed at New Hope Cemetery, Mineola.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
