Dogwood celebration returning to Quitman with three days of festivities March 20-22

Quitman will be full of fun, contests, good food and activities for the three-day Quitman Chamber of Commerce Dogwood Fiesta March 20-22. 

The event will kick off with a street dance featuring rising Texas country music artist Bobby Irwin Band on Friday, March 20 from 7 to 10 p.m. The Bobby Irwin Band won the 2020 TXM Records Texana Troubadour singer and songwriter contest Feb. 23 at Lindale’s Texas Music City Grill & Smokehouse. The dance is free admission and will be on the north side of the courthouse square.

The first Classics and Coffee Cruise-In will kick off on Saturday morning, March 21, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The Lake Country Classics Car Club will be the host. After this first event, the club will host “Classics and Coffee” on the third Saturday morning of each month through October. There is no registration and there will be a 50/50 drawing as well as door prizes along with free breakfast snacks and coffee. 

The festival activities move to Jim Hogg City Park on Saturday where they will be starting a .5K Fun Run beginning at 11:30 a.m. There is a 50 cent entry fee and a prize will be given for best costume.

There will be activities the rest of the day Saturday including a bounce house and an obstacle course. 

There is also a cornhole tournament with registration at noon and competition starting at 1 p.m. There is a $20 entry fee with a 70% payback on prizes.

The Homemade Pie Contest is at 3 p.m. There is a $5 entry fee and first place wins $50 with second place getting $30. At 4 p.m. there is a Homemade Cookie Contest also with a $5 entry fee and $50 for winning first place and $30 for second place.

There will be food trucks on site and live bluegrass, gospel and country music in the afternoon at the park.

The Dogwood Fiesta will wind down Sunday with a One-Club Golf Tournament at Mineola Country Club sponsored by the Quitman Chamber.

There will be no Miss Dogwood Pageant during the Dogwood Fiesta. The pageant will be held during the Old Settlers Reunion this year.
