Donald Lynn Taylor, 1948-2020

Donald Lynn Taylor, 72, of Quitman went home to be with the Lord Friday, Nov. 13, 2020 in Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, AT and Tis (Clanton) Taylor of Quitman.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cathy Pursley Taylor; two brothers, Ronald Taylor and wife Rhonda and Jerry Taylor and wife Linda, all of Quitman; nephew, Jeff Taylor of Quitman; sister-in-law, Linda Pursley Campbell and husband Pete; children, Jack Calk and wife Teresa of Pflugerville, Nikki Ramos of Quitman and TJ Ramos and wife Paula of Willis; grandchildren, Taylor Calk of Pflugerville, Crista Calk of Austin, Tony Ramos of Willis and Colt Ramos of Willis; and great-grandchild, Larkin Calk of Pflugerville.

After graduating from Quitman High School, Donald entered the Army where he served in Vietnam. When he returned home, he went to work for TDJC, and after 32 years he returned home to Quitman to enjoy his retirement.

He will be dearly missed by those who loved and knew him.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date when safe to meet in groups.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
