The East Texas Forage Conference will be held on Friday at the Rains County Fairgrounds in Emory. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. with the educational program starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m. There is a $20 cost for the conference with a catered lunch provided. Topics on the program are listed below:
• Brush Control in Pastures - Ethan Westfall, DOW Agrosciences
• Use of Summer Annuals - Dr. Vanessa Corriher-Olsen, associate professor and extension forage specialist, Overton Research and Extension Center
• Getting the Highest Value Out of Your Hay - Dr. Blake Bennett associate professor and extension economist, Dallas Research and Extension Center
• Weeds and Insect Management in Pastures and Hay Meadows - Dr. Vanessa Corriher-Olsen, associate professor and extension forage specialist, Overton Research and Extension Center Specialist and Agents Panel Discussion
Three continuing educational units will be given for the program: one hour in the general category and two in Integrated Pest Management category. Please RSVP to the Wood County Extension Office Located at 618 S. Main in Quitman, or call 903-763-2924. This will let us have an accurate participant count for the amount of food to order for lunch.
We will also be having booth exhibits from various agricultural related industries.
