Ten newly elected Wood County officials were sworn in to office on Jan. 1 at the courthouse.
Those taking the oath of office included newly elected County Judge Lucy Hebron, District Clerk Donna Huston and Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Janae Holland as well as incumbents County Clerk Kelley Price, County Treasurer Becky Burford, Pct. 2 Commissioner Jerry Gaskill, Pct. 4 Commissioner Russell Acker, Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Tony Gilbreath, Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Jerry Parker and Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Cindy Weems.
Judge Jeff Fletcher of the 402nd District administered the oath of office to Gilbreath, Holland, Parker, Gaskill, Acker, Burford, Huston and Hebron. Gilbreath administered the oath to Price. Weems was sworn-in at a separate ceremony.
Mineola Area Chamber of Commerce President Vic Savelli served as the master of ceremonies for the swearing-in. Maj. James Attaway of the United States Army and Texas state Rep. Cole Hefner led pledges of allegiance to the American and Texas flags.
Pastor Demethrius Boyd of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Mineola gave the invocation and Reverend Debbie Myers of First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro gave the closing prayer.
Receptions were held afterward for officials. Hebron’s event was at the Stinson House and Huston’s was at the Speakeasy Coffee Shop.
