Elevator repair waiting on part
The elevator at the Wood County Courthouse has been out of commission while they wait on a part that has been ordered.
There is only the basement entrance available to the general public, and the elevator is used by those who have problems navigating the steep stairways at the courthouse.
Courthouse security, led by Sgt. Lynn Bettis, notified Prec. 4 Commissioner Russell Acker about the problem before Thanksgiving. Acker has ordered the part needed to fix the elevator, but it has not come in.
“Security notified us that we needed to order a part for the elevator to get it back in working order. The company wanted the money up front which is a little unusual, but the part has been ordered,” Acker said. “They have not yet been able to get the part or find the part. There are only two companies around here that work on elevators.”
