Elizabeth Ann (Bogan) Cox, 1932-2020

Our beloved Elizabeth Ann (Bogan) Cox passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Irving, Texas.

Ann was born in Mineola at the family home on Nov. 15, 1932 to Henry and Ethel (Reed) Bogan.

She graduated from Mineola High School in 1950. Ann met the love of her life, Donald Lee Cox, while he was serving in the Navy, and they married on Nov. 28, 1953. They had two sons, Charles Wayne and Brian Lee.

Ann worked at Chance Vought Aircraft in Dallas in the early 1950s and became a homemaker when Charles was born. Beginning in 1970 she taught pre-k for four years at Kirkwood UMC in Irving. In 1973, she began working at the Irving ISD tax office where she worked for 25 years and retired in 1998.

Ann was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Ethel Bogan; her brother, Patrick Bogan; and niece, Christine (Bogan) Orr.

Ann is survived by her husband, Donald L. Cox; her sons; Charles and Brian and his wife Laura; grandchildren, Chris Cox, Rhonda and husband Brian Fruendt, Ashley Cox and Brittany Cox Washle and husband Lieutenant Scott Washle; great grandchildren, Cameron and Liam Fruendt; her sister, Allene Deuson; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Tucker and Nancy Bogan and families.

Ann was a loving, kind and remarkable wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and friend to all. Her absence leaves a void in all of our hearts and we will miss her dearly.

The memorial service will be Friday, Nov. 20 at 12:30 p.m. at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Frwy, Irving, Texas 75062. Masks and social distancing are required.

Interment will follow at 2:30 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, 75211.

Memorials in Ann’s honor may be made to First United Methodist Church Irving, 211 W. 3rd St., Irving, Texas, 75060, where she was a member since 1983, or to the American Heart Association.
