Attention girls ages 6-17 in the Mineola ISD. The Mineola Kiwanis Club is seeking entries for the Mineola Iron Horse Festival Pageant on Saturday, September 15 in the Mineola High School Multipurpose Room.

Winners will be determined from three age groups. Tiny Miss Iron Horse will include ages 3-7. Junior Miss Iron Horse will be chosen from ages 8-12 and Miss Iron Horse will be ages 13-17. Entry fee for the pageant is $25. Winners receive a crown, sash and trophy and the teen winner receives a $500 college scholarship.

Activities will start at 10 with an Informational session and modeling practice on stage. This will be followed by an interview with the judges. At 1 contestants will model casual wear and party dress.

No talent is required, but all entrants will participate in onstage questions with the Master of Ceremony. Winners will participate in the Iron Horse Festival on September 28-29.

Food and refreshments will be available during the noon hour. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Deadline for entering is September 8. Entry forms are available at the Mineola Chamber of Commerce and KMOO Radio or by calling Joyce Curry at 903-569-2729.

The Mineola Kiwanis Club is involved in service to the children of the world. They sponsor Terrific Kids at Mineola Primary School, K-Kids at Mineola Elementary, Builder’s Club at Mineola Middle School and Key Clubs at Alba-Golden and Mineola High Schools. The pageant is a fundraiser for the Kiwanis International Eliminate Project, which is saving babies and mothers from death by tetanus. There are only fourteen countries left who have not received Eliminate status. The Mineola Kiwanis have pledged $52,500 to this cause.
