Filing period underway for cities, schools

Local elections to choose city councils and school board members will be held May 2.

In Mineola the school board seats held by John Abbott and Kyle Gulley are up for election for three-year terms.

In the Mineola city race there are three seats available. Incumbents are Sue Jones, Ward 1; Layne Lankford, Ward 2; and Novada Bigham, Ward 3.

In the Quitman ISD election there are two seats available which are held by Jane Herring and Raymond Peek. The term is for three years.

Quitman city council will have three alderman slots open. They are held by Susan Resnik, J.R, Evans and Jack Robinson. 

In Alba, the city election has three spots to fill. Incumbents are Robert Kraemer, Larry Jones and Tammy Kirkpatrick.

In the Alba-Golden school board election there are three full terms and a one-year unexpired term. Incumbents are Jason Stovall, Johnny Teel and Jackie Staley with the one-year term occupied by Grant Sadler who had been appointed to fill the seat of Joe Carr. 

In the Yantis ISD school board race there are two spots open. They are held by Melissa Stephens and Jennifer McKeever. They are for three-year terms.
