The next meeting of the Texas Fingerstyle Guitar Association will be Oct. 26 in Mineola from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Broad Street Church of Christ, 440 W. Broad Street.

Special guest will be John McClellan, a guitarist who wears many hats. He has toured the world as a solo, classical guitarist, and performs with Kirk Hanser as the internationally known Hanser-McClellan Guitar Duo.

He is also a recognized authority on the music of Chet Atkins. He has authored several popular books of transcriptions and commentary, including Chet Atkins in Three Dimensions Volume 1 & 2, and Solo Sessions, as well as instructional DVDs on Chet’s style and technique.

McClellan has collaborated with several partners on numerous CDs. He is the head of classical guitar studies at Webster University in St. Louis, Mo. and also a regular performer and clinician at the annual, four-day Chet Atkins Appreciation Society convention in Nashville every July.

His repertoire includes a broad mix of popular, traditional, spiritual and classical music for the guitar.

McClellan will perform at 1:30 p.m. The concert and entire meeting are free and open to the public, but donations to help support club activities are appreciated.

Those who play fingerstyle are invited to bring a guitar so members can listen and also to bring their friends.
