Floyd Olen Brown 1926-2020

Floyd Olen Brown, 94, of Quitman passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1926 to his parents Floyd K. Brown and Maggie (Shavor) Brown. Floyd enlisted in the army in 1945 and served proudly for a year. He moved to Quitman from Dallas in 1986 and has been in the area ever since.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Brown; sister, Mary Pyles; and brother, Travis Brown.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Marcus (wife Deborah) Brown, Michael (wife Chris) Brown and Ricky (wife Cindy) Brown; sisters, Doris Mixon and Pat Quillin (husband Butch Williams); 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and the many friends he made during his lifetime.

Visitation was Saturday Sept. 5, 2020 from 1-3 p.m. Services were held at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. Interment followed at Quitman Cemetery.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
