Former deputy named district clerk
Suzy Wright, a former deputy in the Wood County district clerk’s office and the only candidate in the 2022 primaries, has been named to fill the unexpired term of District Clerk Donna Huston.
Wood County commissioners acknowledged the appointment by District Judge Brad McCampbell at Tuesday’s meeting.
Huston resigned two weeks ago effective Dec. 31 with a year remaining on the term she won in 2018.
Huston did not file for reelection, and Wright is unopposed in the March 1 Republican primary and has no Democratic opponent.
Huston cited the negative courthouse working environment for her decision.
Wright will be sworn in Jan. 3 at 10 a.m.
