Foster to perform free concert at Addie McFarland Center

Renowned blues, jazz and gospel artist Ruthie Foster, who was born in Mineola and still has family locally, will perform a free concert Thursday, Feb.16 at the Addie McFarland Community Center, sponsored by the Mineola Historical Museum.

The performance will double as a Black History Month program as well as recognition of the city’s sesquicentennial.

Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Foster has been nominated for three Grammys and has earned numerous other awards through a career that has included 12 albums, including her new release, “Healing Time.” She was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame in 2019.
