The Mineola ISD Education Foundation passed out its most awards yet, totaling almost $35,000. That is more than double the first-year awards and brings the foundation’s generosity to more than $90,000 in four years of granting teacher wishes.

Foundation awards $35,000 in grants to MISD teachers
The Mineola ISD Education Foundation awarded its annual teaching grants in a livestream broadcast last week.
The grant award presentations had to be scaled back with the closure of school, so there were no cheerleaders, drum corps, etc.
The foundation passed out its most awards yet, totaling almost $35,000. That is more than double the first-year awards and brings the foundation’s generosity to more than $90,000 in four years of granting teacher wishes.
The awards are as follows:
Haley Stanley, middle and primary, $5,000, outdoor reading room.
Deborah Armstrong, high school science team, $5,000, movable maker space.
Laura Harris, first grade team, $1,120, Adorable Hippos for Chromebooks.
Keven Clevenger, $1,000, to revitalize the lab.
Donna Baker, middle school, $4,995, full steam ahead.
Kara Ellerbee, elementary, $4,345, Education Galaxy renew.
Lara Petersen, primary school library, $1,800, innovative search and maker space.
Tina Peterson, middle school English language arts and reading, $884, picture perfect power shots.
Deborah Armstrong, $1,000, engineering supplies.
Raquel Palma, kindergarten, $753, headphones for Chromebooks.
Laura Marder, $1,000, View Inside dissection supplies.
Julie Conner, $603, escaping the classroom higher order thinking skills.
Kaye Morris, primary school, $1,833, Ozobots.
Cindy Robinson, high school science team, $1,800, Operation Certification.
Teri Bedford, sixth grade, $1,000, science supplies.
Stacy Wedding, kindergarten team, $400, Tin Bins for success.
Deborah Armstrong, high school science team, $1,505, chemicals.
Cassie White, middle school ELAR team, $1,000, non-fiction books.
