Also tonight, Quitman Lady Bulldogs swept Mineola Lady Jackets in three games in a district volleyball matchup.

Mineola leads Winnsboro 20-6 at halftime.

The Yellowjackets opened the scoring after Winnsboro muffed the opening kickoff. Trevion Sneed ran it in.

Winnsboro responded but missed the extra point to trail 7-6.

Mineola drove for a score on its next drive, capped by a Dawson Pendergrass pass catch for a 14-6 lead.

A short field after a bad snap on a punt helped Mineola to another touchdown with Pendergrass running it in for a 20-6 lead.

Quitman trails Arp 26-6 at halftime.

Still 20-6 Mineola over Winnsboro after three quarters.

Arp leads Quitman 40-6 in fourth quarter.

A Wyatt Hightower touchdown and two-point conversion makes it 40-14 Arp over Quitman.

Just under two minutes left and still 20-6 Mineola over Winnsboro.

Special Olympics returns in style

After a five-year absence, over 150 athletes from Como-Pickton, Cedar Creek and Upshur and Wood Counties competed for special recognition at a state-sanctioned Special Olympics track and field meet at the Quitman High School track field on Friday, April 5.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
