Garden of grass raided, yields 71 cultivated plants

A phone call from a concerned citizen led Wood County Sheriff’s Department to a marijuana bust last week.

According to Wood County Sheriff Tom Castloo there were 71 marijuana plants confiscated at the site which was in the southeastern part of the county near the county line.

“We did make some arrests, two females and one male. The charges are possession of marijuana over four ounces and less than five pounds,” Castloo said. “It was a call in by a concerned person. It was just one of those things we followed up on, something someone told us about. That’s exactly what I have been asking folks to do. If you see something or have any doubts, call us and we will come check it out.”

Arrested were Jessica Dudley and Stepheny Austin from Hohenwald, Tenn. and William Kuss of Hawkins. Each was charged with possession of marijuana over four ounces and under five pounds. They were booked Oct. 10 and each person was placed under a $25,000 surety bond.
