Doug Cameron has announced his candidacy for election to the Quitman Independent School District Board of Trustees. Cameron was born and raised in Quitman by a wonderful set of parents, Gene and Pat Cameron.

Cameron announces for QISD school board
Doug Cameron has announced his candidacy for election to the Quitman Independent School District Board of Trustees.
Cameron was born and raised in Quitman by a wonderful set of parents, Gene and Pat Cameron. H graduated from QHS in 1981 and had the opportunity to attend and graduate from Texas
A & M with a degree in Industrial Distribution in 1985. Cameron has been employed with Dealers Electrical Supply for 30 years in sales and in management.
Cameron and his wife, Georgia, have lived in Quitman for nearly 20 years. "We were recently blessed to welcome a young lady and QHS student, Cameron Williams, into our home," Cameron noted. "I currently serve as the volunteer youth minister at First Baptist Church in Quitman and love these students."
Cameron feels he has the experience for the position. "My knowledge and experience in business, as well as, my involvement in the Quitman community qualify me to provide responsive leadership on the School Board," Cameron said. "I previously served as a school board trustee from 2001 to 2007 and board president from 2006 to 2007."
Cameron believes in high academic standards and school accountability. "I will work hard to ensure that our school district continues to improve test scores and that every dollar benefits our children's education," Cameron said.
Early Voting is at the Wood County Courthouse the rest of this through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and May 2-3 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Election Day is Saturday, May 7.
