Girls qualify for state power lifting meet
Five girls from Quitman and one from Mineola have qualified for the state power lifting meet with their performances Saturday at regional meets or other previous qualifying meets.
From Quitman, Brooklyn Marcee won the 123-pound class with lifts totaling 775 pounds including 300 each in the squat and dead lift and 175 in bench press.
Abby Day was second in the 181 class with 815 pounds including 330 in the squat, 325 in red lift and 160 on bench press.
Bailey Hughes had lifts totaling 945 pounds in the 198 class for second with 400 on the squat, 320 dead lift and 225 bench press.
Karli Cowart placed third in the over 259 class with 695 pounds including 260 squat, 300 dead lift and 135 bench press.
Addison Marcee was third in the 105 class with 595 pounds including 220 squat, 235 dead lift and 140 bench.
They competed at Rice.
At Fairfield, Shylah Kratzmeyer of Mineola placed third in the 132 class with 805 pounds including 330 on squat, 335 dead lift and140 bench press.
The state meet is March 15-19 in Corpus Christi.
