ETCOG announces a reduction in price of trip costs coming to GoBus riders. The cost of a one-way trip is dropping from $4 to $2 for all paying customers. The new fare structure was approved by the ETCOG Executive Committee this month and will go into effect on January 2nd.

“I am thankful for the Executive Committee’s approval of this change because it will help our customers,” said ETCOG’s Director of Transportation, Vince Huerta. “Our services provide a means for those needing transportation that otherwise wouldn’t be able to get where they need to go. It helps prevent isolation among seniors and promotes independence. It provides access to jobs, shopping, medical appointments, or just to visit a friend or family member. Cutting the cost in half for trips will ease the financial burden for our riders and help them be able to fulfill their needs more easily.”

The last change to GoBus fares occurred in 2014 when they were increased to $4.00 due to rising gas prices. GoBus serves clients in ETCOG’s 14-county region which includes Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood Counties. GoBus partners with the Area Agency on Aging of East Texas to sponsor trips for seniors to medical appointments or senior nutrition centers, and recently announced free trips for all active military members or veterans.
