Graveside services for Graham “PawPaw” Ballard, 88, of Honey Grove, formerly of Golden, were Thursday, July 25 in Sand Springs Cemetery in Mineola.

Mr. Ballard was a longtime X-ray technician and spent most of his years working in the Clarksville hospital and living in Bogata, Texas, until his retirement. He was always ready to hand out hugs to family and friends alike and will be missed for his consistent sense of humor and quick wit. Graham enjoyed working with wood and always enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and family. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. The Air Force took him to Alaska before its statehood. He spent his time there as an intelligence communications specialist and could still cipher Morse code until his senior years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Scharls Yvonne (Wallace) Ballard, in 2015.

Surviving family includes his son, Dwight Ballard of Etoile, Texas; three daughters, Marshalla Downs of Paris, Texas, Charlotte Roberts of Mineola, and Cathey Page of Honey Grove; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to The Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
