In one of their best games of the year, the Quitman Bulldogs lost a heartbreaker to Grand Saline Friday night 68-65 at Delbert Ballard Memorial Gym.
It was a real team effort with three Bulldogs scoring in double figures and two more with nine points each. Quitman remains winless in District 13-3A.
Senior Garrett Peek had one of his finest games as a Bulldog scoring 20 points, hauling in six rebounds, earning three assists and getting four steals. Freshman post Kalen Wilkerson continued to show signs of a bright future with 14 points, eight rebounds, an assist and three intimidating blocks.
Junior Brad Medlin also had a great all around night scoring 11 points, grabbing eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and took two charges. Sophomores Trey Berry and Jace Reid each scored nine points. Berry added six rebounds, three assists and four steals while Reid had five rebounds, five assists and four deflections.
Senior A.J. Dunn contributed a pair of rebounds, four assists and a deflection. Luke Pruden had two points and five rebounds while Aiden Steward had two rebounds and two deflections. Aiden Corrior added an assist and three deflections.
The Bulldogs were set to travel to Mineola Tuesday at press time followed by a Friday road trip to Kemp and finishing the season at home against Scurry-Rosser Feb. 13.
