Caring & Sharing donates to Mineola schools
Each fall and spring Mineola Caring & Sharing makes a $1,000 donation to the four Mineola Schools. This money is presented to the principal of each school to use at their discretion for children who are in need of help. In the past the funds have been used in many different ways including hair lice shampoo, clothing items, and help for children who have lost everything in a house fire.
Mineola Caring & Sharing is a 501(c)3 organization which was organized in 1983 to help the children of the Mineola School District and their families at Christmas with food, household items, toys and stockings. Volunteers begin their work of raising $35,000 each year in August and wind up the season with a dinner for the volunteers in January.
Volunteers are needed for all the phases of C&S. The next volunteer meetings are Monday, Oct. 17 at the Broad Street Church of Christ and Monday, Nov. 21 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 6 p.m.
Tickets are being sold for the spaghetti luncheon cooked by the Pilot Club of Mineola on Thursday, Oct. 20. Call Joyce Curry for the $7 tickets by Oct. 13. Volunteers from other organizations will deliver the meals to businesses. The event will be held at the First United Church’s Ministries Center.
