Hawkins runs past Como-Pickton, 22-7

Posted

The Hawkins Hawks moved their record to 2-3 this year with a convincing 22-7 win at home against Como-Pickton.

The Hawks have a bye this week before starting district play at home against undefeated Union Grove (5-0). The Hawks district is one of the state’s toughest Class 2A DI groups. After Union Grove, the Hawks have Cushing, Big Sandy, Alto and Carlisle.

Union Grove has run past their opponents so far this year behind the play of quarterback Mike Webb who has become one of East Texas’ top signal-callers. The key for Hawkins is to stay healthy and stay away from the injury bug.

Hawkins senior running back Akim Richmond continues to lead the Hawk ground game and scoring punch. Josh Caruso and Ibory (Teddy) Taylor anchor the offensive and defensive lines for the Hawks.
