The Hawkins Lady Hawks dominated both inside and outside on their way to a 58-43 victory over the Tyler HEAT Wednesday as a part of the 2017 Hawkins Basketball Classic.

A 9-3 run during the first quarter propelled Hawkins’ Lady Hawks to a 17-11 lead at the end of the first frame. Hawkins’ Alyssa Eddington scored six straight points late in the first quarter during the 9-3 run.

Early in the second quarter Emily Moore opened up the scoring with a three, then the HEAT came back and hit a three of their own as the Lady Hawks led 20-14.

After another three by the HEAT the Lady Hawks relied on junior forward Jaycee Chesire for offense. Chesire scored on back-to-back possessions, first with an elbow jumpshot, then with a lay-up plus the foul.

Chesire’s individual 5-0 run led to Hawkins’ first double-digit lead of the game at 27-16. Raeli Smith hit a three-pointer just before the half to give the Lady Hawks a 30-18 lead at Halftime.

In the second half the Lady Hawks essentially traded baskets with the Tyler HEAT as the lead never got below 12 for Hawkins.

Raeli Smith scored eight points total and added five rebounds. Also chipping in for Hawkins were Emily Hodges with a near double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds; Harlie Conover scored nine points while grabbing three rebounds. Alyssa Eddington also had a solid game with eight points, four rebounds, and two steals. Emily Moore pulled down seven rebounds.
