After a physical win against Quitman just five days prior the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers found themselves in a cat fight when they faced Scurry-Rosser Wildcats last Tuesday evening.
The Lady Panthers used a solid fourth quarter to win their second straight district game beating the Lady Cats 62-55 on the road.
The Lady Panthers were led by starting point guard Grace Bizzell who had her best game of the season en route to scoring a game-high 24 points.
The first quarter proved that Scurry-Rosser would not go down easily as the Lady Panthers saw themselves down two heading into the second quarter. However A-G responded by playing their best quarter of the game as they scored 21 points in the second taking a five-point lead in to the halftime break as the score was 33-28.
Both teams traded runs throughout the game as the Lady Cats responded in the third quarter outscoring A-G 13-10 to cut the lead to just two points heading in to the fourth.
In the fourth quarter though, A-G showed they were the more effective team offensively as they scored 19 points in the quarter giving them a seven-point win.
While Bizzell had a great scoring game overall she was especially potent from the three-point line going 4-6 from the three-point line while also grabbing three rebounds and five steals.
A-G’s Macie Pendergrass also had a solid game as she scored 10 points, six of those coming from the free throw line. Ginny Carson and Kenzie Chadwick both scored nine points and added seven rebounds for A-G as well.
The Lady Panthers are now in second place in the district with a 2-1 record and will look to continue their winning ways as they travel to face Mineola on Friday at 6 p.m.
