“Suds!” runs one last weekend in Mineola

There are only three more chances to see “Suds! The Rocking 60s Musical Soap Opera,” at Mineola’s Lake Country Playhouse: Aug. 5, 6 and 7.

The show, created and written by Melinda Gilb, Steve Gunderson and Bryan Scott, features over 40 of the greatest doo-wop hits of the 1960s, all performed at the Suds Laundromat. The musical is presented by arrangement with Brent Peek Productions in New York.

Directed by Kay Lamb, with music director Jeannette Peel and choreographer MarCordrie Collins, the show revolves around Cindy, who works at Suds but has no luck in life and love. It’s her birthday, and with the arrival of the postman things just go from bad to worse. Deciding to end it all, she is stopped by Dee Dee and Marge, two larger than life characters that are more than meets the eye.

It’s a family friendly musical romp through some of the greatest songs of the 60s, set among the backdrop of washers and dryers.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for students. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Friday and Saturday performances are 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees starting at 2 p.m. The box office and doors will open one hour before showtime.

For reservations, contact the box office at 903-569-2300.
