Holiday Fun at the Historic Select Theater in Mineola

The Historic Select Theater, the longest continuous operating movie theater in Texas, will be headquarters for holiday entertainment this Christmas season.
First off is the new adaptation of the beloved Dr. Seuss story How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Titled The Grinch, the movie will show Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 16, at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a bargain matinee on Dec. 15 at 2 p.m.
The scene then shifts to music as The Lake Country Symphonic Band takes the stage for two performances of their Christmas concert, Seasonal Soundings. The concert will feature soprano Jillian Brandon on two holiday numbers. Additionally, the band will present the world premiere of David Lovrien’s An Irish Christmas Eve, composed especially for the band. Although the Sunday, Dec. 16 concert is sold out, seats are still available for the Tuesday, Dec. 18 performance. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children 11 and under. Reservations are absolutely essential to guarantee your seats for the band concerts. The Sunday concert will be at 2 p.m. with the Tuesday night performance starting at 7:30 p.m.
On Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m., Lake Country Playhouse will be presenting the classic film Miracle on 34th Street. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance.
For the arts lover on your gift list, 2019 season tickets to Lake Country Playhouse and The Lake Country Symphonic Band fit conveniently into any stocking and any budget. Lake Country Playhouse season tickets are $40 for all four plays in the upcoming season. This is a savings of $11 from the box office price. Tickets for the upcoming season for The Lake Country Symphonic Band are only $20, a savings of $10 off the box office. It is important to note that season tickets for the band will most likely sell the season out, so gets yours now before they are gone.
