Hughes, Lopez top graduates for Mineola High School

Mineola High School class of 2019 valedictorian is Lena Hughes, the daughter of Rachel Brandon and Christopher Hughes.

She garnered a GPA of 101.5345. Her extra-curricular activities include band, jazz band, indoor percussion, theater, National Honor Society, varsity track, varsity tennis, UIL Word Power, and the Student Advisory Council. She plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University in the fall, majoring in music education and/or sound recording technology.

Mineola High School’s 2019 class salutatorian is Alaina Lopez, the daughter of Lisa Leonard and Frank Lopez, and step-daughter of William Leonard.

She compiled a GPA of 100.2069. Her extra-curricular activities include Fellowship of Christian Athletes, band, varsity cheer, varsity track, and National Honor Society. She intends to attend the University of Texas at Tyler and major in nursing. After obtaining her bachelors degree, she plans to enroll in medical school to become a neonatologist.

Graduation is set for 8 p.m. Friday, May 24 at the high school stadium.
