Illinois angler wins top prize
Richard Morgenthaler of Geneva, Ill. won the 14th Annual Berkley Big Bass Tournament headquartered at Lake Fork Marina Oct. 19-20.
His catch of an 8.82 pound largemouth bass won him a new Skeeter 2X 200 boat along with Lowrance Electronics and $1,000 in cash.
There were 1,200 anglers entered in the event.
Also finishing in the money was Alba angler Clifton Johnson, whose catch of a 5.25 pound bass netted him $1,000 in cash. Jeffrey Johnson and Jeff Nelson, both of Mineola, also won $1,000 while Charlie Godwin and Don Stapleton, both of Yantis, each won $500.
