Wood County Judge admits to DWI
Wood County Judge Bryan Jeanes has spoken with the , admitting he broke the law as he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and will have to deal with the consequences.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department Judical Records website shows that Jeanes, of Hawkins, was arrested today, April 28, and has been released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
The county judge said the morning, “I’m guilty. I broke the law and I’m going to have to pay the price.”
“I guess the only other thing to say is I’m human like everyone else and I’ve got my frailties and weaknesses and I’m going to have to deal with them.”
Asked where he was coming from and going to when the incident occurred, Jeanes said he had been to the hospital earlier in the day. “I had had an issue at home. Basically I was just going anywhere but home.” But he said that has nothing do with the fact he was arrested and, “We’ll let it play out and we’ll go from there.”
Wood County Commissioner Pct. 2 Jerry Gaskill was reached and asked his responded to the arrest. “Wow. I’m still blown away by it.” He said he had not gotten any firsthand information on the matter yet and he didn’t want to talk extensively about the matter. He did say, “I hate to hear it. As far as commissioners he’s done a good job for us with what we’ve dealt with.
Reportedly the Jeanes’ vehicle was located in the median on Highway 69 south of the Mineola city limits.
A message has been left for Wood County Sheriff Jim Brown and an Open Records request has been placed for the arrest report. The sheriff’s department responded the request saying they “will respond properly” to the request for the arrest report, which is normally routine, but gave no indication of whether they intended to provide it or not.
