Inez Delores Allen Benda, 1922-2019

Graveside services for Inez Delores Benda, 96, of Quitman are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at Moran Cemetery in Moran with Dan Connally officiating.

Ms. Benda died Feb. 13, 2019, in Quitman.

Inez was born Aug. 18, 1922 in the Pueblo Community near Putnam to Chester and Emogene (Jeter) Allen. She was raised in the Pueblo Community and graduated from Moran High School. She later graduated from Abilene Business School and worked 10 years for General Motors Corp. She was honored by earning Oldsmobile’s Nationwide Highest Achievement Award as a part of the Oldsmobile Business Management Club.

On March 14, 1942, she married Miles Benda, a World War II Army soldier and farmer/rancher. They lived many happy years in the Moran-Albany area.

Inez was a loving, courageous, fantastic wife, mother and homemaker. She always placed God’s will first in her life and was a tireless, faithful worker for her Christian faith. She was diligent in service for God’s missionary vision and in service for her Baptist church while she always remembered others and their needs. Throughout her life she continued to be a constant worker in community activities.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Miles Benda; sister, Charlene Austin; two brothers, Jerrell and Bill Allen; grandson Cyle Connally; and great-grandson Rowan Franklin.

Survivors include her daughters, Kay Franklin of New Braunfels; Ann Connally, Quitman, and Connie Graham of Springtown; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as numerous extended family.
