"The season is over here at Yantis ISD. We had a tough season playing with five girls and tryuing to rebuild," Coach DeAnn Evans said. "Seniors Wetzel and Ogle were good leaders for our team this year. These two players will be missed on and off the floor for their dedication and character."
Evans was pleased with her the dedication of her team.
With only five players, we had to depend on each other every day for practice and on game days. One thing I can say is that I did not have to worry about these girls being there," Evans explained. "These girls reminded me of why I am in this profession because they played 100 percent on the practice floor and the game floor. It was an honor to coach athletes such as these at Yantis ISD."
The Yantis Owls looked prime for a playoff run with a 61-39 trouncing of the Bloomburg Wildcats. Kendall Glen put together a great game leading the team with 18 points while brother Logan Glenn added 12, Demetrius Brown 11, Lane Ogle and Jaden Modrall six each and Bradley Potts with five.
The Owls were set to finish the season at state-ranked Avinger Tuesday night before beginning preparations for a bi-district opponent.
