When volunteers appear to work in the gardens on a hot and humid Wednesday morning, you know their hearts are in their work.
June is a transition month for our gardens at the Arboretum and for your gardens in Wood County. Day lilies are taking their turn at dazzling us all. These hardy plants seem to produce “just one more bloom” as the days progress. Roses have been deadheaded and are ready to release a second show of color.
We have changed our Wednesday work time to cope with the summer temperatures. You can now find us weeding, mulching, irrigating, etc. from 8 to 11 a.m.
YOGA in the gardens started Tuesday, June 4 and continues, weather permitting, each Tuesday morning beginning at 8:30. More information can be found about this event on our website. A fee will be charged for each class, and all levels of expertise will be addressed.
I am continuing to work out daily in anticipation of the Miss Ima 5K Run and Fun Run for kids scheduled for Saturday, July 20. I feel I am now qualified to run with the pre-K children. More about that at another time.
Creative U kicks off for the final session on June 22. Come on out and customize a terra cotta pot. All supplies will be included in the registration fee. You may register online. Hope to see you soon. The coffee is on.
