Happy almost New Year to our friends and neighbors. We at the Arboretum have had a busy fall season. Fundraisers, guests, planning, building and focusing on the future. In order to better reflect those we serve and to better identify our volunteers who work endless hours, the board of the Arboretum has decided it is time for a name change. May I introduce you to the Wood County Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Same location, same friendly faces, just a name change.

Looking down the road a bit, we are pleased to announce our first Nature U. for the year 2019. On Saturday, Jan. 19, we will be welcoming Holly Ross, a gifted gardener and former resident of Canton. She has now relocated to Galveston and is returning to East Texas to present “Spring into Spring Gardening.” Registration for this informative session can be found on our website. I will be sneaking a bit more information into my next article about the specifics of her presentation. Start the year off with an expert! Holly never fails to bring new information and ideas to those of us who think we “know it all!”

Once again let me thank you for your support during 2018. It was a year of transition for all of us. Please feel free to join us any Wednesday. No experience is necessary. The coffee is on.
