Graveside services for Walter A. Hamrick, 88, of Gainesville, formerly of Yantis, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Holland Cemetery, Yantis, with John Hensman officiating.

Mr. Hamrick passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015, in the Gainesville hospital.

He was born May 7, 1926, in Yantis to the late Needam Columbus and Bertie Jane McQueen Hamrick. He worked in the oil fields around Odessa and in southeastern New Mexico, mostly for Wharton Drilling Company. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Debbie Hamrick of Odessa; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Andrew Read of Gainesville, and Barbara and Eddie Huckabee of Allen; 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerome Leslie Hamrick; brothers, Delane Hamrick, Frank Holland, Virgil Holland, and Harvey Holland; sisters, Oleta Hooten and Aileen Green, granddaughter, Lee Ann Huckabee, and step-granddaughter, Kristen Montgomery.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
