James Dwight Hathaway, 72, of Quitman passed away on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019 at Palava Cemetery in Fisher County with Chase Pope officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30 at Wood County Cowboy Church, 3435 FM 2088, Quitman with Chase Pope officiating.

Dwight was born Dec. 1, 1946 in Pampa to James Morgan and Lavine Hathaway. He married Lana Dee McWilliams on Aug.15, 1975 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Canyon. He was a member of Wood County Cowboy Church. He owned and operated Hathaway Drywall, working for Amicus Corporation as a sheetrock building contractor.

He is survived by his wife, Lana Dee McWilliams Hathaway of Quitman; sons, Grady Hathaway and wife Charity of Quitman and Roddy Hathaway of Eugene, Ore.; three grandchildren; Hunter, Luchesse, and Fisher; brother-in-law, Lance McWilliams and wife Terry of Roby, Texas; brother-in-law, Mike McWilliams and wife Jolene of Odessa, Texas and sister-in-law- Teresa Meysing and husband Mike of Hudson, Colo.; special friends, Brent, Wendy and Laramie Chadwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
