James Earl Boothe Sr., 1937-2019

Graveside service for James Earl Boothe, Sr., 82, of Quitman, formerly of Edgewood, was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood with Bro. Bryan H. Boothe officiating.

He passed away Monday night, April 22, 2019, at his residence, due to a house fire.

James Earl was born Feb. 24, 1937, in Edgewood, the son of Addie Walton Boothe and Edna Olive Johnson Boothe. He was raised in Edgewood and was a graduate of Edgewood High School in 1955. James served in the U.S. Army, retiring after 22 years of service. He lived in Walla Walla, Wash. prior to moving to Quitman in 2002. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Edgewood High School football team.

He was preceded in death by his brother, brother-in-law and a nephew.

Survivors include a son, James E. Boothe, Jr., of Lawton, Okla.; daughter, Dona Treonne Perkins, of Lawton; brother, Brian “Buddy” Thomas Boothe and wife, Helen, of Wills Point; two sisters, Martha Carter of Edgewood and Glenda Forrister, of Cedartown, Ga.; four grandchildren, Andrew Boothe of Lawton, Adrienne Monetathchi of Stillwater, Okla., Phoenix Monetathchi of Lawton and Joey Monetathchi of Lawton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
