Wood County Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Cheyenne at Holiday Villages. A man and his mother were at the residence at the time. During the search, a glass pipe containing suspected methamphetamine was located as well as digital scales and a rifle. Jimmy Joe Heimann, 59, of Quitman, was placed under arrest as a result. He was transported to jail without incident. He faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, under one gram.

Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to a reported fire on CR 3475 and arrived to find a structure fully engulfed in flames and the fire department on scene attempting to extinguish the blaze. The owner stated he had been on a ladder cleaning beams with paint thinner when the gallon container fell and tumbled down the stairway flinging paint thinner all over. A halogen work light which was being used to illuminate the work area caused the fumes to combust. Photographs were taken at the scene. The case has been turned over to the county's fire marshal for investigation.

Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to CR 1612 in reference to a possible stolen trailer. South spoke with the complainant who stated he was driving through the area when he spotted what appeared to be a brand new black flatbed trailer abandoned on the side of the road. While photographing the scene, South heard a radio broadcast concerning a white dually pickup pulling a stolen trailer out of Rains County. South also noted tire tracks in the area of the trailer consistent with a dually pickup. The abandoned trailer was taken to the Sheriff's Office impound lot pending determination of its status.

Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to Lake County Animal Clinic on Loop 564, Mineola, for a report of a vehicle burglary. A woman reported she was inside the animal clinic for less than five minutes and returned to her vehicle to find the passenger side window shattered and her purse missing from inside. According to the victim, the purse contained her driver's license, social security card, 5-6 credit cards and approximately $60 in cash. The purse was later found on the side of Hwy 80. Some, but not all, of the contents were also recovered. This case has been forwarded to CID for continued investigation.

Deputy Terri Altman took a report from a complainant on CR 3420 at Lake Hawkins who stated he had discovered his boat's battery and a depth finder missing. According to the man, the boat was stored at a boat dock located across from his residence. The value of the missing items is $425. This case was turned over to an investigator who will work to develop leads.

Lt. Kelly Smith made contact with four young men in the Wal-Mart parking lot after observing the men with a disabled vehicle. After approaching the men in an attempt to offer assistance, Lt. Smith detected the strong odor of marijuana. Three of the four men were eventually arrested and transported to jail. Corey Durrell Jackson, 17, of Desoto was arrested for possession of marijuana, two ounces or less. He is also charged with failure to identify after he gave false information about his identity. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant for failure to identify from another county.

Terance Ross Johnson, 20, of Cedar Hill was arrested after he was found to have an outstanding warrant for probation violation, possession of marijuana from another county. Onarri Bond, 26, address unknown, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and was later charged with failure to identify. The fourth man was released after he was found to have no outstanding warrants.

Deputy Austin Cryer was dispatched to a residence on Hwy 80 in the Mineola area. Two men stated they were living together and in a dating relationship and had been arguing. One of the men claimed he was pushed into a chair causing a bleeding injury to his arm. Deputy Cryer was able to observe an injury on the man's arm consistent with his story. Alex Braden Hagood, 28, of Sulphur Springs was arrested for the offense of assault causing bodily injury, family violence. He was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon after several guns were found unsecured in the residence.

Deputy Aaron Warren was dispatched to Diamond Park Homes on FM 17 near Alba for a report of an assault. The owner of the business stated an employee struck the back window of his pickup with a piece of lumber busting out the glass. According to the owner, he confronted the employee who was attempting to load lumber with the company's forklift onto his personal trailer. After threatening the owner and damaging the truck, the suspect fled the scene pulling his trailer and spilling lumber onto the roadway. This case was forwarded to CID and assigned for additional investigation.

Deputy Justin Bowring was dispatched to a residence on CR 4897. A man reported that three county road signs and the tripod to a transit had been thrown into his yard. The man further stated he observed a white Chevrolet pickup, possibly 4-wheel drive, with two kids in the back leave the area at a high rate of speed. His attempt to catch up to the pickup was unsuccessful. Bowring returned the found road signs to the Precinct 4 barn and transported the tripod to the Sheriff's Office where it was secured.

Deputy Steven Fields was dispatched to a residence on CR 1686 to attempt to locate a man who had an active warrant out of another county. Wood County Dispatch received anonymous information that the wanted man could be found at the residence. Deputy Fields did locate the man outside the residence but the man fled when he spotted Fields. Despite several commands to stop, the man continued to flee until he eventually surrendered. Floyd D. Hughey, 35, of Alba was arrested for the outstanding warrant. He was also charged with evading arrest or detention. He was transported to jail without incident.

Deputy Dustin Fenlaw initiated a traffic stop in the area of CR 3920 and CR 3940 after receiving information that the operator of a maroon Jeep had possibly assaulted the female passenger. Immediately upon making contact with the driver, Fenlaw observed the man to have red, glassy eyes and slurred speech. The man admitted to consuming alcohol. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were performed at the conclusion of which Michael Scott Ballard, 56, of Hawkins was arrested and transported to jail. Ballard provided two different breath specimens and was charged with driving while intoxicated with blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 or greater. During an inventory of the vehicle, subsequent to it being released to a wrecker service, a loaded 9mm pistol was found. A check of the gun's serial number revealed it to be stolen. Ballard was also charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Deputy Terri Altman took a report from a woman who stated she was notified by her bank that unknown persons had fraudulently used her debit card in the Chicago area. According to the woman, 34 separate charges had posted to her account at Southside Bank in Hawkins overnight. An incident report was completed for documentation purposes.

Deputy Dustin Moffett took a report from a woman on CR 1460 who stated that her fiancé had recently passed away and left her his property. The woman further stated her son-in-law had been living at the residence until recently when he moved out taking not only his property but items belonging to the complainant as well. The list of stolen items includes a Ford tractor, a power washer, motorcycle, large flat screen TV and a trailer. The total value of the missing items is $32,000. This case was forwarded and the investigation will continue.

Wood County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division conducted a narcotics investigation that resulted in two arrests and the seizure of more than 137 grams (4.8 ounces) of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $14,000. Investigators were acting on information they received that drugs were being dealt from an apartment in the Winnsboro area. In addition to the large amount of methamphetamine, 5 firearms and drug packaging materials were also seized.

Joseph Lee Boykin, 35, of Como and Anna Bergman, 18, of Van were both arrested and charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, four grams or more but less than 200 grams (a first degree felony). Boykin was also charged with five counts of unlawful possession of a firearm (a third degree felony) after investigators learned he is a convicted felon.

Sgt. Josh O'Grady was able to recover property stolen from a residence in the Winnsboro area. One suspect was arrested and was found to be in possession of a gun stolen from the residence. The suspect's identity is not being released at this time as other suspects in the case are still being identified.

Sgt. O'Grady is currently working a burglary which occurred in the Alba area. Some of the stolen property was located in Sulphur Springs and returned to its rightful owner. A firearm stolen from the residence was recovered as well leading to the arrest of one of the suspects in this case. Interviews are now being conducted in order to identify and locate other suspects.
