James Robert King III

1942-2018

MINEOLA- Graveside services for James Robert King, 111, 76 of Mineola, was held Thursday, August 23 at Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville with Jim Pickens officiating.

Mr. King died August 20, 2018, in Tyler. He was born July 17, 1942, in Huntsville to James Robert King Jr and Virginia King. He grew up in Huntsville, graduated from Huntsville High School where he was a cheerleader. He attended Sam Houston state University and earned his Bachelor of Science degree.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a Senior Chief.

Survivors include his son, James Robert King IV of St. Martinville, Louisiana; daughters, Shelly Chance, Hainesville, Mollye Glasscock of Arlington; brother, Col. Jerry Marshall of San Antonio; sister, Mollye Kay Mitchell of Huntsville and six grandchildren.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
