James Simonek 1937-2019

James Simonek, 82, of Mineola, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 in Tyler. He was born April 26, 1937 in Mineola to the late John Simonek and Gladys Thomas Simonek. He was a retired construction superintendent and member of Longview Baptist Temple. He also served as a jail ministry preacher for several years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Keith Simonek and Robert Simonek, and by two grandchildren, Bridgette Dawn Simonek and Christopher Ray Simonek.

James is survived by his wife, Aleta Simonek of Mineola; son, James Paul Simonek II of Mineola; brothers, Wesley Simonek of Mineola and Leslie Simonek of Forney; sisters, Edna Stovall of Tyler and Louise Simonek of Greenville; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 from 1-2 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home 5320 S. State Hwy. 37 Mineola. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home, with Bro. Bob Bowen conducting. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery in Mineola.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
