James T. Matlock, 1936-2019

James T. Matlock, Jr., 83, of Holly Lake Ranch, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 in Tyler. He was born on Jan. 27, 1936 in Lake Providence, La. to the late James Matlock Sr. and Hattie Key Matlock.

James was a retired Insurance Agent and member of First Baptist Church of Zwolle, La.

He is survived by wife, Dorothy Matlock of Holly Lake Ranch; son, James T. Matlock III of Frederick, Md.; daughters, Debbie Ledford and husband Don of Holly Lake Ranch and Donna Fernandez of Lindale; brother, William Garland “Billy” Fryday of Zwolle, La.; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola. Graveside service was held on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 at Holly Tree Cemetery, Holly Lake Ranch at 10 a.m., James Matlock III conducting.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
