Jodie Conyers, 1955-2019

A memorial service for Jodie Conyers, 64, of Yantis will be 11 a.m. May 18 at Lake Fork Baptist Church.

Mr. Conyers died April 25, 2019 at his home in Yantis.

He was born in Lubbock and spent most of his adult years in Fort Worth, where he and his wife of 35 wonderful years, Sharon, enjoyed a full life and raised four boys – Chris, Jay, J.C., and Cary. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a long-time employee of the City of White Settlement.

He coached myriad youth football and baseball teams. He will forever be remembered for his decade-long run coaching the Senior League Dodgers, with all four of his boys playing on the baseball team. He coached and mentored countless young men, many of whom kept in touch with him and considered him a friend up until his passing.

Upon retiring in July of 2012, Jodie and Sharon embarked on a new journey and settled in Yantis. They spent their retirement days relaxing and fishing with friends and family on Lake Fork.

He was preceded in death by his mother Jocie, father George, sister Sue, brother Buddy, and grandson Jacob.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; and his four sons, Chris, Jay, J.C. and Cary; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and countless nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, in-laws, and other relatives. He left an enduring, heartfelt impact on those he loved and will be missed by his friends and family and the communities he called home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the New Children’s Building at Lake Fork Baptist Church ( or to Pound Pals, a local non-profit specializing in saving senior, hospice and disabled shelter dogs from euthanasia. Donations in Jodie’s honor can be mailed to the church (9483 W. FM 515, Alba, TX 75410) or placed online by visiting the shelter’s website,
