John DeFoore, 1936-2021

A celebration of life for John DeFoore of Mineola will be held Saturday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Mineola Nature Preserve amphitheater and is open to the public.

Students and friends are invited to bring an acoustic instrument for the music circle afterward, to remember DeFoore with stories and songs.

DeFoore died Aug. 11 at age 75. He spent many years in the Mineola area as a guitar teacher and music promoter.

A private family service and interment was held in Sidon Cemetery in Sidon, Miss.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
