John R. Hampton Sr., 1934-2019

John R. Hampton, Sr. passed away on Feb. 9, 2011 at 9:15 a.m., following his beloved wife, Anne, by a month and a day. He was born Sept. 8, 1934 in Natchitoches, La. to Larry R. Hampton and Izora Patch Hampton. He was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters. John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. John showed Charolais cattle for over 15 years and managed ranches until retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, barbecuing for friends and family and sharing Blue Bell with his grandkids. He passed on a strong work ethic to all.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Juliet Anne Hampton. He is survived by son, John R. Hampton, Jr. and his wife, Allison of Houston; daughter, Vicki Hampton of Fruitvale; son, Michael Hampton and wife, Doni of Cleburne; grandchildren, Jessica and Drew Delgado, John Hampton III, Benjamin Miller, Abigail Miller, Jackson Miller, Curtis and Callie Haggard, Christina and Jeff Hill, Clayton and Brittany Hale, Caitie McGary, Reed Hampton, Ryan Hampton and fiancée Tesla Peterson, and Julianne Hampton. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Janet Moon of Royse City along with nine great-grandchildren. A celebration of life honoring John will be planned in Mineola at a later date.
