Kacey Musgraves earns six CMA nominations
The Golden girl who graduated from Mineola High School has reached a new height in her career with the announcement of six nominations for the Country Music Association awards.
Kacey Musgraves garnered six nominations for CMA Awards in the 2013 final nominees. Taylor Swift is the only other artist with as many nominations.
The announcement of final nominees in five categories was made Sept. 10 during “Good Morning America,” and the remaining seven were made from the Best Buy Theater.
Musgraves is a first-time CMA nominee. Her six nominations span several categories. The East Texas singer/songwriter has two nominations under Song of the Year, which goes to the songwriters. Those are “Momma’s Broken Heart,” which she wrote with Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, and “Merry Go ‘Round,” created with Josh Osborne and McAnally.
She is also up for Female Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (goes to artists and producers) and Single of the Year.
In the Female Vocalist of the Year category, Musgraves’ name appears with the other nominees – Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Miranda Lambert, and Carrie Underwood.
